Clicking on the <Messenger> button, you have access to the ‘Group management’ via the dropdown menu.
In this segment, teachers can automatically generate group chats out of their lessons, and can easily link groups to each other. When creating a group linked to a lesson, the students are automatically added to the group chat.
Whenever there are changes in a class, e.g. a student changes into another class, the responsible teacher can update the group by just one click on the <Synchronise student/teacher> button. The Messenger then updates all data with WebUntis and gives feedback on any suggestions for change. You therefore see at a glance which student will be added or deleted.
You can access all generated groups in the left segment of the Messenger under 'Messenger groups of lessons'. Just click on the <Group> button to view and join other groups, or leave any of your groups. The 'Group' segment is only accessible for school employees. Students do not have the permission to create or administer groups. Only teachers can create chats and can then invite students to group chats.
In the left segment of the Messengers you see all other open discussions and groups.
The Messenger function was integrated on several positions of WebUntis for the teachers so that they can start a group chat e.g. out of the timetable view.
If there has not yet been created a group for the respective lesson in the Messenger, a chat group is automatically generated including the respective students, and you can immediately start to write a message.
If teachers click on 'Lessons | My lessons', there is a ‘Messenger’ button integrated, as well. They can instantly start chatting with the respective group of students without having to switch to the Messenger and without having to create a group. It is the same here: If there is no chat group for this lesson in the Messenger, a chat group is automatically created.
